Alaina was diagnosed with SynGAP1 in December of 2020. We had suspected some seizure activity when she was an infant and since then have done multiple EEG’s. As of now, she has no seizure activity to date.
The first thing that anyone who meets her notices is her big smile. Alaina has pure happiness and joy in her laugh. She is also in constant demand of cuddles.
Alaina's favorite thing in the world is playing with water and musical instruments. She enjoys any and all light up toys as well.
She is continuously meeting her goals in therapy and has truly come a long way in the last year. We are hoping to continue improving communication using the PECS system as well as working on potty training.
Her diagnosis and all the support we have found in the SynGAP1 community has opened our world to new found hope and an optimistic outlook on Alaina's future. We are grateful to have the opportunity to witness and support the research that hopefully one day will help Alaina and all the other children with SynGAP1.
