Devin had a difficult entry into this world but after 10 days in the NICU she was sent home with a clean bill of health. Unfortunately by three months of age I realize something was just not right and then we saw her first seizure. From there it was a noticeable delay and behavior issues but no one could tell us what was wrong and gave us a diagnosis of Globally Developmentally Delayed with Epilepsy. We got her as much help as we could and never used her diagnosis as a crutch. When her sister DeAna came we were nervous but she has now become the big sister. Devin is a fun loving child who enjoys dressing up in costumes. She loves school and her speech has improved tremendously she can also read which is amazing. She joined her schools cheerleading team which was a highlight and gave her a lot of confidence. Finally at 16 in June of 2019, we got her SynGAP diagnosis which definitely fit the bill. So lucky to have found a community of friends that we can share our experiences with. Devin is an amazing child and everyone who meets her is lucky.
