Maximo is 20 years old and lives in Jesús María’s city in Córdoba Providence, Argentina. Maximo was diagnosed with Syngap1 at the age of 19. There had always been a suspicion that it could be something genetic but we did not know about Syngap1. When he was 2 years old, he was diagnosed with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder), epilepsy, intellectual disability and speech delay. As the child grew older, his motor skills got worse.
Despite his diagnosis, he has been in constant therapies for all these years, to help him to improve in different development areas and he has been overcoming some challenges. He does his best to communicate and understand. He has a lot of communicative intentions and this is really important for all of us. He is friendly and enjoys meeting other people like his school friends, family and therapists. He loves music, riding his tricycle, car rides and dancing. Overall Maximo is a very happy young man. We are lucky to have him in our family and we love him so much.
The Syngap Research fund is a 501(c)(3) public charity (EIN 83-1200789) headquartered in California.
